ASUU gives FG conditions that must be met before schools will be reopened


The Academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday has influenced the federal government's final decision on schools reopening.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has kicked against the reopening of schools nationwide.

The board said the COVID-19 pandemic is currently ravaging in the country and advised the federal government keep the schools nationwide locked.

The ASUU president, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, revealed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Oya, Nigeria, on Monday.

According to Ogunyemi, he said the federal government need to address the challenges of education sector before it can enable the reopening of schools nationwide.

Ogunyemi advised that the federal government should ensure to meet the conditions which was spelt out by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), before reopening of schools.

He further urged the federal government to provide ideal environment.

Also, the NCDC's head of risk communication, Yahya Disu, kicked against the reopening of schools.
