In fact, some are so mystical that they have been locked away. So here are the top 6 mysterious books in the world that you should never read.

The Necronomicon

This mysterious book is rumored to contain the power of resurrection in its pages. It is also bound by human skin. The book was originally written as fictional production by horror writer H.P Lovecraft. However, as its popularity grew, it became published in hard copy including a creepy pop-up book. Its content is quite unsettling and has even been featured in Friday the 13th movies, Evil Dead and Afterlife franchises.

The unedited copy of this book can be found at the Massachusetts’ Miskatonic University.

The Orphan’s Story

This book was written between 1608 and 1615 by a monk named Martin de Leon y Cardenas. Cardenas had broken his sacred vow then proceeded to write this story about a Spaniard on a journey for fortune. The mysterious thing about the book lied in its publication. Since it was written, nobody had been able to publish it, up until last year. Before 2018, everyone who had tried to publish the book had mysteriously ended up dead before publishing. It was only last year that the book was finally published, by a woman nonetheless.

The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage

This 15th century three-part book was written by Abraham for his son, Lamech on mystic arts. It is said to contain rituals to help control a person’s personal “demon”. But it is also said to be haunted. Anyone who possess the book will be haunted by spirits and encounter so much misfortune, it would lead to their death.

The Voynich Manuscript

Another book allegedly written in the 15th century, the Voynich Manuscript is one of the most mysterious books in the world. It is written in a language that is completely indecipherable, and is 240 pages long! The first owner of the book claimed to have no idea how the book entered his library, and till today it remains not translated.

The Codex Gigas

Also referred to the “Devil’s Bible”, this book dates back to the 12th century. It has a compelling story behind its origins. The book is said to have been written by a monk who broke his vows. For breaking the sacred vows, the monk was sentenced to die in an enclosed tomb. The night before he died, he started writing down all he knew about humanity in a book. His writing was a race against time and when he realized that he couldn’t do it in time; he invited Lucifer to help him complete the book in exchange for his soul. According to the legend, the Devil agreed to the wager and completed the book for the monk. Making the book full of dark rituals, images of demons and even the devil. You don’t want to read it, believe me.

The Grand Grimoire

Of all the books on this list, this is the most mysterious. Rumored to have been written in the 16th century, this evil occult book was written by a man possessed by the devil. It is full of dark magic words that can call out demons and even resurrect the dead. However, reading this book comes at a price of selling your soul to the devil.
