After an emergency meeting of the northern leaders yesterday in Abuja, the minister of information spoke with the media on the urgent need to shut down the churches in Nigeria for safety reasons.
He said
" There is really a need to shutdown all the churches in Nigeria and the government should ban all church activities in the country till further notice. This is because the fight against this corona virus cannot be effective if church gathering are still held in the country which attract large crowd.
I am not trying to be religious but Christians should be law abiding for once and respect government orders.
If after this enforcement, any church is found carrying out any activity, the government will take a brutal action against them.
The mosques does not attract much attention since the population of Muslims are not as Christian population in Nigeria especially in southeast and south-south"
