Why Trump wore his pant backward

A media analyst has explained why Trump wore his pants backwards

Donald Trump gave a wild 90-minute comeback speech on Saturday night – but social media was more interested in his pants.

Social media users were convinced that Donald Trump was wearing his pants backwards during his big comeback speech on Saturday night.

The former US President was speaking at the North Carolina Republican Party's annual state convention, in his first major appearance since speaking at the CPAC convention in February.

During the 90-minute speech, Mr Trump railed against the "corrupt" 2020 election, slammed President Joe Biden's "radical left-wing administration", and demanded China pay $US10 trillion in reparations for Covid-19

After the event, Twitter users shared video from the event zooming in on the 74-year-old's crotch area after he stepped away from the podium, claiming that he had unintentionally put his pants on backwards.

"Others are noting this, but it can't be shared enough – Donald Trump gave his big speech today with his pants on backwards," wrote former Obama administration official Brandon Friedman. "Look close and tell me I'm wrong."

One user replied, "His pants are definitely on backwards. There is no fly and the creases are those found at the back of the legs. The only reason I can think of why he'd do that is if he p***ed his pants in the front and it would really show up!"

Comedy writer James Felton tweeted, "One day you're president of America, the next you're just some guy who wears his trousers backwards so he can take a s*** out of the flies."

A number of publications including TMZ and Metro ran stories about the backwards pants photos, which trended on Twitter under the hashtag #TrumpPants.

But fact-checking website Snopes has spoiled the fun, finding that Mr Trump did not, in fact, wear his pants backwards.

"Snopes looked through photographs taken at the event and published by the visual media company Getty Images that clearly show the former president on stage wearing pants with a zipper in the front," Snopes wrote.

"And a video posted by C-SPAN of the 90-minute speech also showed the former president wearing pants the right way. As such, we rate this claim as 'False
